Harahan - vs. Stats

Harahan is the "City of Friendship", named in honor of James Theodore Harahan, onetime president of the Illinois Central Railroad. The city hugs the banks of the Mississippi River. Harahan is home to the Huey P. Long bridge, which was the first to span the Mississippi River's waters. The symbols of Harahan are its centuries-old oak & pecan trees.

Each year locals and visitors to Harahan enjoy the Annual Pecan Festival. On the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, the Farmers' Market is open, selling fresh produce, plants and crafts.
